Review of Coolpad Note 5
- Design and Body
Coolpad Note 5 is one and only mobile phone in it’s price range that has a full Aluminium uni-body metal built with metal chassis finishing (case and back) giving us a good amount of protection from scratches. It has a slightly curved glass design which looks ravishing and offers a great grip.
This phone sports a 5.5 inches of Full HD IPS LCD display (1080 × 1920 pixels) with Capacitive touchscreen, multi-touch and 2.5D curved glass, apart from a stunning display the Coolpad Note 5 also flaunts a 401 ppi as Pixel Density and we found this integration the “best in class”. Playing games and watching HD videos in Note 5 was a delightful experience.
It will be available in two colors – Royal Gold, Space Black and will weigh 173.4 grams. Note 5 has a slim dimensions which measures as – 152 (height) × 75.7 (width) × 8.8 (thickness).
- Network and Connectivity
Latest smartphone by Chinese company is eligible for JIO Welcome offer and will support all major bands in 4G in both SIM1 and SIM2, leaving us with an absolute joy while browsing internet.
We used the JIO SIM in our review and noticed that Coolpad Note 5 was able to get fruitful signals without any delay (at least from the mobile end) as it comes equipped with all the 4G bands that Reliance also supports in India.
Coolpad Note 5 will also come enabled with GPS with A-GPS, TDD LTE Bluetooth, Hotspot, OTG Support, WCDMA, FDD, Wi-Fi 802.11,b/g/n, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, 4G LTE, 2G, 3G, 4G and of course 4G VOLTE.
- Memory and Storage
Under it’s hood we have a non-competitive 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and expandable capacity of up to 64 GB. Transferring data to USB from this phone is possible as Coolpad Note 5 will also come with OTG support, yet another useful spec that not many Smartphones has in this price rage!
It comes loaded with an enormous 4010 mAh Li-Polymer battery and the company has promised that this pocket friendly phone will have a sweet 200 hours (8 days) of stand by time. The battery of Coolpad Note 5 is so good that it just consumed 9 % of the battery after we spent 4 hours of watching back to back YouTube videos in the auto next play mode.
Next up is it’s another very handy feature called Quick Charge which allows users to charge the phone in quick mode. In our review it took just 15 minutes for this phone to go from 4 % to 27%. Implausible!
- Performance and Processor
This phone is powered by Android operating system v6.0.1 Marshmallow version and surprisingly we also have a custom interface created by Coolpad itself called Cool UI 8.0 to further enhance the usability experience. It’s surprising because only few smartphone makers in the world has managed to incorporate a custom interface (Xiaomi, Motorola) in their smartphone in this price segment.
We played high end games and kept switching it over with Facebook app and this budget mobile phone unsurprisingly cleared the quick-multitasking test as well with 5 on 5. The phone did not hang and took us to the new app in less than a second thanks to it’s strong Octa-core processor with 1.5 GHz clock speed and ultra fast chip-set of Snapdragon 617, ARM Cortex-A53.
- Camera and Sensors
It will have a 13 MP main camera with LED Flash and CMOS image sensor giving us an impressive image resolution of 4128 × 3096 pixels. Primary camera records video with 30 fps (1920 × 1080) and uses an Aperture of 2.2 F (images and videos). Other sensors include Digital Zoom, Auto Focus, Face/Smile Detection, Touch to Focus, Continuos Shooting, High Dynamic Range Mode (HDR), ISO Control, Exposure Compensation.
Coolpad Note 5 has an LED Flash on the 8 MP Front Camera making it yet again one of the few phones in the market of this price rage with such a unique feature. Front camera too will have an Aperture of 2.2 F.
Coolpad Note 5 has a highly sensitive and innovative fingerprint scanner that will allow us to lock or unlock the phone, record calls, quick dial up and click photos (selfies). In our review it took way less than one second to unlock the phone, we had to read the user manual to figure out the exact time that the phone takes and the company says in it’s website that it will take 0.10 second to unlock the phone using fingerprint, very quick and accurate!
Coolpad Note 5 fingerprint scanner is placed at the back of the phone under the primary camera.
Coolpad Note 5 has all what you could dream of, it’s an elegant smartphone with robust configuration, fast charging facility, great imaging, enhanced security with fingerprint scanner and VOLTE compatibility, all that at just Rs 10999 is delight!
