Lava has taken many by surprise after they unveiled what will be the most expensive Smartphone by the brand.
Lava Z25 is launched in India along with Lava Z10 which is a more affordable at Rs. 11,490 whereas its sibling Z25 is priced at INR 18,000 and comes equipped with fingerprint scanner, 4GB of RAM, OTG support, a selfie flash, large battery cell but composes a decent display.
Lava Z25 review, specifications & price
Lava Z25 and Z10 both comes with a selfie flash & metallic unibody and that’s where the similarities stops.
Coming back to the mid-range offering, Z25 has a premium chrome lining, slim measuring at 8.5 mm but a little heavy at 163 grams but that can be understood because we have a metal finishing and a decent but large enough battery of 3020 mAh inside.
The battery cell comes with super power saver mode as well wherein users gets a 5 hours of talk time with just 15% charge. Users should expect 262 hours of standby mode, 18 hours of talk time on 2G and 9½ hours in 3G network, 71 hours (approx) audio playback in earphone mode and 25 Hours in speaker.
4G VoLTE compatible device sports a 5.5-inch of HD IPS LCD 2.5D curved display with 720 by 1280 pixels resolution which gives us 267 ppi density. The display is the decent as mentioned above and offers great brightness when exposed to the sun and even when the battery is dying out or have reached as low as 10%.
It runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow with a user interface of Star OS 3.3 and allows users to use 2 4G GSM SIM but one of them is hybrid so in case you decide to go beyond the 32 GB DDR3 internal memory and expand it up to 128 GB, you need to take one SIM out to insert a microSD card. Also, only one SIM can be 4G at a time.
Optics-wise, Lava has set the bench mark higher. It is seen with a 13 megapixel rear-facing snapper with 5-layer f2.0 aperture, Dual LED flash, PDAF, Sony Exmor RS chipset and throws a max resolution of 4128 by 3096 pixels. But that’s not all, the primary cam has bunch of other specs which are mostly found in high-end phones like Exmor-RS CMOS sensor, Phase detection, Auto focus, Digital zoom and all other ordinary modes and sensors.
On the front, we have a 8 MP cam with spotlight flash and 5-layer f2.0 lens. The quality is superb even in low light.
The central processing unit uses MediaTek MT6750 chipset and has a 64 bit octa-core, 1.5 GHz main worker, the Mali-T860 MP2 acts as its main co-worker, both are paired with a huge 4-gigs of RAM. Adding this high-powered software with the OTG support will make the gaming users happy.
The fingerprint scanner is placed at the back and the brand on their site says that it can unlock the phablet in just 0.16 seconds, quickest than many Rs. 20k + handsets.
The position of the loudspeaker is neither at the back nor at front but next to the USB charging port, divided in two segments. This makes it a very unique piece as mostly all the major branded models would opt for the back placement.
The fingerprint touchpad also allows users to do many other tasks such as lock or unlock apps or launch an app and click selfies as well.
It will be up for a grab in two colors Gold and grey and inside the sales package, we get the handset, charger, warranty card, USB cable, back cover, screen protection and a headset.
The Smartphone will go on sale starting March 23rd via major brick-and-mortar retail stores across the country.
Updated on April 5th: Most successful mobile by Lava gets listed on Flipkart for INR 16,990. As of this update, it has sweet 4.5 star rating with 76 consumers review (mostly positive).
