Micromax didn’t have a good run in 2016, the brand sold very few mid to high-end Smartphones but did manage to sell a large number of feature and entry-level budgeted phones. The company has lost a large chunk of share to the mighty Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Micromax however continues to be a major player in the country, they are still the largest Indian Smartphone supplier by a huge margin.
Today (March 28th) the brand sent out press invites for tomorrow for the launch of Dual 5 Smartphone which allegedly sports a dual camera and what the company refers to as the extraordinary.
So far we have few info about the specs,
The mobile will flaunt a medium 5.5 inch display and as mentioned above and goes by the name, the model will have a dual camera.
The only image we have is from the only tweet from Micromax.
The dual 5 will have a full metallic unibody and the co-founder Rahul Sharma also mentioned in a brief chit-chat to iGyaan that this will be the most secured phone in India and he meant about the phone banking and other related stuffs which are bold claim especially when major big players such as Samsung, Lenovo are playing finding it hard to make their models password protective.
They are also running a countdown on their website.
We will have all the details tomorrow including the price, so stay tuned.

He started the event by briefly discussing about the future of the company and how they expanded the service centers in the country from 700 to 100 and from 1 to 3 manufacturing unites just in 2016.

This is their first flagship model in 2017 and they could easily get away by calling it the most secured and indeed an extraordinary photography gadget.
Throughout the afternoon, Rahul kept more focus on the camera of Dual 5 so it’s better if we start our review from the camera side.
We have a 13 + 13 + 13 MP main camera, all with Sony sensors which is one of its kind and it comes fully loaded with tons of features and modes.
Firstly, in an ordinary camera found in most of flagship, the subject is captured by the same sensor which latter gathers it and clicks the picture but with Dual 5, the task of gathering and eventually clicking the pic are conducted by two different cameras and therefore we automatically get a splendid photo. This feature has been inspired by any DSLR camera.
It also comes equipped with Monochrome and RGB sensor which can capture upto 3× more light and detail.
The Bokeh mode and anti haze will evade all the mist and dust from the final taken image.
From the videos prospective, it can shoot ultra 4K video and can also shoot 3D video.
On the front end, we have a 13 MP f/2.0 aperture selfie shooter which comes with a soft flash, gesture control, GIF maker and integrated smart beauty.
Not only that but the company has also made sure that the NTSC color gamut remains 100% wherein the images and videos when seen from device will look ravishing. Best opt if you’re a YouTube fan.
Design-wise, it has a full aircraft grade aluminium unibody (which stunned the invitees) with a curved display and ultra thin bezels finishing. Rahul points out that while holding it looks much smaller than a 5.5″ device because of its light-weight, sleek and thin design.
The home key is covered with glass with the navigational keys seen on the right side of it but another unique hardware feature is another customized smart key that sits on the left side which can be used to click an image instantaneously, open or lock/ unlock app and can perform other task set by the users.
The screen has a protective layer of Gorilla Glass as well.
The fingerprint scanner is positioned at the back which can also be used to snap shots, close and open app, etc.
From the networking point of view, the 4G VoLTE will provide the consumers 20% more reception and can capture even weaker signals as well.
Undoubtedly, we have a great secured phone. It has an independent security chipset which can store your banking and other related passwords and the device achieves EAL 5+ security of military grade (most secured that any handset could get with today’s and most advanced technology).
It also comes with an anti theft and a smart universal mode.
To juice up phone, it is seen with a 3200mAh battery and the quick charge can shoot up the phone very quickly. The company claims that a mere 10 minutes of charging can enable it for 4 hours of usage.
From the battery prospective, the freezer application can freeze an unused app till a user opens it and while it is on the background, the app won’t consume the battery at all, smart app!
There is a surprisingly a huge memory option and even the default 128 GB can save up to 4 lakhs HD images.
Rahul also emphasized that the mobile will have no heating issue at all.
It’s a complete phone by any mean and no matter what you look for in a Smartphone before paying the MRP, this should definitely be a choice to reckon with.
Micromax has yet again set the bar high and kicks the ball on to the Chinese suppliers court.
It’s an announcement and not an official launch so far, Dual5 might arrive somewhere in April and we’ll update it here and keep a track on the date.
Summarizing it, here are the list of unique features of it:
- Sensors of primary camera
- Secured chipset
- Freezer app
- Customized smart key
